In the fields of holistic health care, Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine are some of the most recognized. Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine theory holds that all life is governed by the balance of Yin and Yang, and the smooth flow of life energy, or "Qi". These principles can be thought of in two ways. One is that they are vital forms of biological energy yet to be identified by Western medicine. The other is that they are terms used to describe the interactions of biological functions. When the Yin and Yang are out of balance, or the Qi fails to flow smoothly we experience illness, pain, and disease. Through the use of Chinese herbal formulas and thin, filiform needles that are inserted in to the skin Acupuncturists are able to balance these energies and reestablish proper circulation of Qi.
When administered by a trained professional, acupuncture treatment has been identified as a minimally invasive medical procedure with relative low risk of negative side effects. Studies have shown that acupuncture is effective in the treatment of many types of pain, both chronic and acute. Preliminary studies are also showing acupuncture can be used to increase the success rates of infertility treatment, and address other gynecological complaints. Across the world acupuncturists are recognized by the World Health Organization for treating over 30 common medical issues ranging from neurological to gastrointestinal. Traditional Chinese Medicine can often be a very strong complementary form of treatment in cases where normal medical interventions do not yield the desired results.
As of March 1st, 2010, Acupuncture treatments in Sheboygan have been adjusted down to only $45.00 per session. Appointments are available every Wednesday and Friday from 11:00am to 7:00pm.
